Jo teaches a very accessible embodied yoga and meditation practice suitable for all. Yoga is for every body and for every one. Creating a supportive environment in which it is safe to explore, experience and embrace all that is present in the body, mind, heart and energy flow is fundamental to Jo's sessions both online and in person in Sway and the New Forest area. With kindness, compassion and curiosity there is much wisdom and healing that can be accessed. Rooted and grounded we can experience beyond the tools and techniques, deepen into a state of presence and expand our consciousness and awareness, allowing us to sense, feel and listen for ourselves and learn to trust our own growing connection, guidance and flow.
Yoga knows everything and everyone to be flowing with the same vibration of energy that at its essence is pure love. Utilising a combination of practises... breath, movement, mantra, sound, stillness, intention, affirmations, deep relaxation, meditation, mudras, reflection and deep restoration... all sessions are gently guided to give the most centred and accessible teaching in that moment whilst encouraging you to trust your own guidance above all else.

Learning to listen inwardly and develop lightness of heart encourages us to go with the flow of life, responding in the present moment, and reminds us of the spirit and radiant light within each and every one of us.
It isn't just what happens on the mat or in a class, although that is a great place to start, it is about living, breathing and surrendering in everyday life and we take the wisdom from the experiences out into the world. |
Yoga has been, and continues to be, a great teacher in Jo's life. She particularly appreciates we can directly experience in our own unique way without judgement or expectations and develop our own true connection and relationship to the essence, and light and presence of love within. This allows the teachings from this ancient science and art to be open and available to everyone no matter their experience, beliefs, faiths and outlook on life.
Jo's teaching incorporates sequences of asana (postures) and pranayama (breath) into a flowing style that encourages breath with movement and becomes a moving meditation into stillness. 1:1 sessions in Sway open and close with stillness, can include chanting and involve some form of accessible presencing and meditation (dhyana). Deeply restorative and yoga nidra (yogic sleep) sessions available to fully relax and bring relief to body, mind and nervous system. Seasonal retreat days in Brockenhurst allow us to immerse more deeply and come together in community. Philosophy is gently woven into all sessions for a deeper experience and a more complete practice. Jo can guide and inspire you to build confidence to develop your own practice to support you in your daily life.
Graduating as a Heart Of Living Yoga teacher beautifully and profoundly deepened her own connection, practice and teaching. With her physiotherapy background Jo can help support and encourage students with injuries or ongoing physical complaints so that they feel safe, confident and empowered both in class and in their life.

What others say...
'My individual yoga sessions with Jo always bring me gently back to my self. Jo's wonderful generosity of spirit, along with her warmth and compassion are helping me to explore and listen to my physical, emotional and spiritual bodies through developing my yoga practice. Above all, it is the importance and beauty of the breath that, with Jo's caring wisdom and support, I trust more and more to light my life's path. Namaste' Helen B
'Jo Pitcher, yoga superstar...
I always look forward to this yoga class (despite my lifelong attachment to my sofa). Each week Jo unfailingly creates a warm, supportive environment that gently challenges me to keep growing in confidence and ability to both energise my body and still my mind. Each class is a journey towards strength, peace and relaxation with a sensitive guide and teacher. Whatever your level of ability this class will make you feel good.' Maddy
'I have just attended Jo's winter retreat day. What a nourishing and restful experience. Jo's unhurried, knowledgeable and relaxing approach allows you to connect with your body and drop in to peaceful stillness. Thank you Jo' Sammie
'My wife and I stumbled upon Jo's yoga whilst holidaying in the New Forest. We're glad we did as, having practiced yoga for close to 40 years, we know a great teacher when we meet one. Soothing yet invigorating, all you want from a class. Go to one of her classes asap.' Alan & Marilyn Cormier. Bromley, Kent
'Today I had a deeply nourishing yoga day with Jo Pitcher in the New Forest. Jo invites you on a beautiful unfolding journey with great ease, gentleness and a simple clarity so you can completely relax in the space she holds. Warming for the heart, relaxing for the body and stillness for the mind. Thank you so much Jo' Lies
'I was feeling very vulnerable, low and in a drained emotionally exhausted state. Now my general happiness and well being are back within me and I feel more in control of my life... Years of back ache are virtually gone and my chronic insomnia is starting to improve. I highly recommend Jo to anyone!' Jenny
'Jo has a real gift for creating a very warm, inviting and gently humorous space, even when it's online. I have experienced different kinds of yoga and teachers, and often felt discomfort in the form or feeling rushed or self conscious. In class with Jo, I felt like I finally found the 'point'. She guides in a way that nurtures one's own flow and rhythm, whilst still being together and sharing the power of the practice. The effects of the class stuck with me in the following days, and for the first time, I began my own daily practice. Thankyou for this embodied inspiration!' S.S
'I have also been lucky enough to experience Jo as a yoga teacher, and her classes are some of the best I have ever been to. Combining the breath, moments of stillness and beautiful flowing movements, Jo's classes helped me to advance in my personal practice in a safe comfortable way which never felt challenging or intimidating. She is a wonderful guide both on and off the mat to helping you be more in tune with yourself and your path.' Adeola
'I will be forever grateful that Jo started me off on my journey with yoga - she is an excellent teacher and her classes gave me a brilliant grounding in learning to link breath and movement.' Clare H
'I had the most beautiful, restorative time at Jo's Winter Retreat Day. Sometimes our default setting can be a state of stress and exhaustion, taking the time to acknowledge the season and rest can be a really revolutionary act' S.A
'Thank you so much, you have given me the peace to just rest today. I have done nothing! You are a very gifted lady' C.P
'I first started Yoga classes with Jo more than 8 years ago, whilst pregnant with my second child. Jo took a great deal of care to individually adapt the practices as my pregnancy progressed. This was really fantastic as it enabled me and my baby to continue to safely enjoy the benefits of yoga right up to the birth and beyond' Karen
